You will always find a helping hand
For some families, life can be uncertain when it comes to managing finances and finding proper ways to sustainable living.
Those members of our community who fall into dire straits can always have access to our helping hand when they need it.
In order to guide them through a path to recovery from financial downturns, there are multiple programs offered by both the federal government and the State of Florida, from which these families in need can benefit from depending on their particular situation.
SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net.
The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations like DNF Food Bank to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and can access benefits.
What's a Medicare health plan?
It is a contract offered by a private company that works with Medicare to provide a custom HMO plan that includes part A and part B benefits to those who are eligible for Medicare.
Medicare health plans include all Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Cost Plans, and Demonstration/Pilot Programs.
Programs of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) organizations are special types of Medicare health plans. PACE plans can be offered by public or private companies and provide Part D and other benefits in addition to Part A and Part B benefits.
What is Medicaid?
Medicaid is the medical assistance program that provides access to health care for low-income families and individuals. Medicaid also assists the elderly and the disabled with nursing facility care costs and other long term medical expenses..
In Florida, the Agency for Health Care Administration is responsible for Medicaid.
The Agency successfully completed the implementation of the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC) program in 2014. Under the SMMC program, most Medicaid recipients are enrolled in a health plan.
Nationally accredited health plans were selected through a competitive procurement for participation in the program.
